When looking back at 2006
Dr. Katrin Born, General Director IntelCrop
Dear customers,
While your activities are already turning toward the 2007 cropping season and our preparations of the campaign are under way, let me please thank you for the confidence you put in our young team this third year.
Not only for you who had to cope with unusual price volatility on the markets, but also for us, 2006 was a really exciting year. Our new model for wheat yield prognosis, which had been offered for free in 2005 as a prototype, was launched and proved its worth – as we know it now -, providing highly accurate yield prognoses in all regions between France and the Ukraine, from Spain to Finland. Besides, our forecasts for the south hemisphere met with global interest.
World-wide acceptance
As a matter of fact, within a three-year period our service – the online access to the weekly up-dated yield and quality information and prognoses – has met with a world-wide appreciation. Thus, the number of our users tripled against 2005 and, while they came up to now from Western European countries mostly, we are currently considering launching our application in Chinese language, in order to be able to attend to these new customers coming… from the other end of the world…
In addition to the traditional trading industry, as well as the purchasers of the malt and wheat industries, new customers show interest in our service, such as the food industry, market information providers and the financial industry.
The number of visitors on our website and on our booths at international meetings increases steadily, which not only proves that your interest is unbroken but also that is it is continuously increasing. We are proud that IntelCrop found such a positive echo in the press last year and we will continue our efforts to stay at place 1 under the first 10 hits of a Google research on crop yield forecasting. However, the most surprising was to discover that thousands of hackers tried to attack our firewall and thus come behind the secret of our success – without any success though! ...
Your wishes are and will remain our programme
Of course we are highly thankful for the compliments you addressed to our team, but we were most of all pleased with your ideas and suggestions to improve our service. For nothing is as satisfying as being able to develop technological innovation out of your ideas. Besides, it is a pleasure for us observing that, after having first closely checked the reliability of our service by subscribing well known regions, our customers subscribe our service for such growing regions for which the access to information remains difficult and for which our satellite-image-based technology still is the sole reliable source of information.
As a matter of fact, your wishes and requirements remain our programme. In this regard I will present you our new features for 2007 very soon.
Best regards
Dr. Katrin Born, General Manager of IntelCrop
I thank you already for the confidence you will place in our young and innovative company and motivated team this year too.
