07/29/2006: Bad crop, good crop? A German overview

Due to an extreme dry and hot period since June the water reserves of the British soil have been continuously dropping. In the most important cultivation areas crops’ ripening occured too early. Regions which were then most suffering from dryness are clearly visible at the yellow and orange colour on the satellite image of July 29th.

Enough precipitations favoured a slightly above average yield formation of winter wheat over spring. However, the latest weather conditions since June lead IntelCrop to adjust its estimation to a slightly under average crop yield of winter wheat in the cultivation area East England.
